In addition to the planned event in Summer 2022, all graduates from the Class of 2020 will have to opportunity to walk the Lawn and process to Scott Stadium, where an in-person Final Exercises ceremony will take place.
With the ticket registration deadline behind us, we have confirmed we will need to hold two ceremonies (10 a.m. and 3 p.m.) to accommodate all members of the class and their guests and comply with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s capacity guidelines. Both ceremonies are near capacity, and we are looking forward to celebrating with you twice!
The format of each event will be similar to the traditional Final Exercises ceremony held on the Lawn. The ceremony will begin with the academic procession down the Lawn en route to Scott Stadium and will feature a keynote speaker, a “re-conferral” of degrees, and close with the singing of The Good Old Song. As with all other Final Exercises ceremonies, the degrees will be re-conferred en masse -- graduates are not recognized on an individual basis.
